Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Jimish has always wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of others, so naturally oral health care became a perfect fit! Every day, he enjoys getting to help patients achieve better overall well-being through improving their oral health. He also feels great satisfaction when he can enhance a patient’s smile and help them feel more confident.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Jimish attended five years of schooling at Ahmedabad Dental College in India. Afterward, he came to the US and achieved his master’s degree in Public Administration and then graduated from the DMD program at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine with high honors in the top 20% of his class. Because of his outstanding academic achievement, he was selected for and completed an AEGD (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) residency, which entails 300 hours of continuing education at BU. During this residency, he learned about many advanced restorative dental procedures and honed his skills in dental implant restorations, bridges, CEREC, crowns, root canals, porcelain veneers, and dentures. In addition, he worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Oral Surgery, becoming proficient in minor oral surgical procedures, and later became an Associate Dentist at the Community Health Center in Rhode Island. Now, he is currently working to achieve his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Patel has this to say about dentistry: “Providing dental care in a trusting, family-based environment is extremely crucial, as anxiety is one of the biggest enemies of a person’s access to dental care. I believe in preventive dentistry and comprehensive treatment planning. I believe in making myself a very proficient clinician and earning my patients’ trust.”

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Jimish is happily married to Dr. Niraja Patel; they first met in college and relocated to Boston together after graduating. Today, he is the proud father of a young daughter named Nyra and always looks forward to chatting with patients who are also parents – they share all sorts of great tips with him! When he’s not at our practice, he likes to swim, read, and do many kinds of outdoor activities like camping, hiking, and running.
